Klerksdorp Correctional Centre Emotional Fitness Talk
At a wellbeing day being held for the social workers and psychologists who work at the Klerksdorp Correctional Centre.
At a wellbeing day being held for the social workers and psychologists who work at the Klerksdorp Correctional Centre we shared some research and information around what emotions are and how they affect us physically. This was followed by an Emotional Fitness Class.
On the morning of Wednesday 20 November 2019, 5th Place received a call to help out at a wellbeing day being held for the social workers and psychologists who work at the Klerksdorp Correctional Centre.
With the principle of Accept and say “Yes” front of mind the challenge was accepted and early Thursday morning 21 November, the two and a half hour drive to Klerksdorp was embarked on. We arrived at the grounds of the Correctional Centre in good time. It’s rolling lawns and sports fields surrounding the staff accommodation provided a tranquil picture belying the real purpose of the imposing, cordoned off building behind the trees.
In a hot hall with doors flung open to invite in the breeze, a group of sixteen men and women listened to the story behind how emotions are made. They were then guided through an Emotional Fitness Class offering each one the opportunity to find relief from the stressors and anxieties they carried.
