Consciously create your day

Do you wake up and consciously create your day? How wonderful it is to have the power to do so.

Consciously create your day

Did you wake up this morning and consciously create your day? This was a question that Dr Joe Dispenza asked in one of his talks that we listened to on YouTube during last week. What an intriguing question. How wonderful to consider that we have the power to decide the day we are going to have. And we do.

It may sound woo-woo and unrealistic to some, but it is true that our energy flows where our attention goes. So why not turn that attention to the wonder and glory around us? There is so much negativity out there that it is our responsibility to reframe, reappraise and choose differently.

“What do you mean, ‘Our responsibility?’” we hear you ask.

Yes, bad things do happen, yes, life is not always smooth sailing, yes, there is trauma and tears. And we do not need to get sucked into it like the flailing piece of fluff at the end of a vacuum cleaner.

There is a muscle that we can develop that allows us to remain aware while in the eye of the storm. Part of growing that muscle is attuning ourselves to the way we feel. If we don’t feel good, instead of analysing why, which just thickens the feeling and makes it set, the trick is to find ways to release and let go of that feeling.

This is our responsibility because everything depends on it.

Persistently and intentionally

Persistently and intentionally focusing on a downregulated nervous system is the pathway to improved health, wealth and happiness. Really, it is. The better you feel the better your life is. On all levels.

This may feel (excuse the pun) flippant. It is absolutely not. Untreated, extended, persistent stress, anxiety and depression all lead to physical, emotional, relational and psychological problems.

In addition, we are energy beings and our feelings send out signals that inform the field. If we live unconsciously and habitually we reinforce the life we are trying to move away from. And most of us want to grow, develop and live better lives.

If we spend our waking hours soaking up corrosive news, views and media, it only stands to reason that we will regurgitate caustic behaviours, actions and beliefs. Is it no wonder the world is so mired in conflict when you see the fear mongering sprayed through our screens?

Stop it. Just stop it.

Consciously create your day

How can you consciously create your day when you are at the mercy of madness? Take a moment to consider your choices around what you eat and drink, how you view your life, what you think your beliefs are. Are they all yours? Are they all consciously decided?

We were on our Sunday morning walk. It was a stunningly beautiful highveld autumn morning. Crisp air, open blue skies. The roads were quiet, the birds in full song.

We could have spent our time with our heads down, staring at the cracked tar, the pothole gashes and unkempt sidewalks. We could have bemoaned the state of our city, the nation and the world. We did not. We don’t. On purpose we do not.

It is not that we do not care. We do. We just choose to lighten our load and our lives by focusing on what we can control. We also choose to appreciate the beauty around us and to be grateful for it all. It makes us feel better.

Uplifting and thought provoking

A few weeks ago Chantal met a rather interesting woman who does rather interesting work. She reads tarot cards. “Stuff and nonsense” do we hear you say? That may be and it’s also a wonderfully generative, soft and warm way of engaging with her clients.

Chantal decided to experience what she does. She made an appointment.

A bit of research revealed that Tarot is a system of symbolic cards primarily used for divination, self-reflection, and spiritual guidance. Although it also has a history as a game, originating in 15th-century Italy as a playing card game called tarocchi.

Today it is used by many people (including therapists) as a psychological tool for introspection and accessing the subconscious mind. Tarot insights come from symbolism, intuition, and pattern recognition. Many view it as a mirror for one’s own thoughts.

“Let’s look at what the month ahead looks like,” Chantal said in her message when making the booking.

“If you come back alive,” laughed Matthew, “I’ll also make an appointment.”

Walls of card decks welcomed Chantal as she entered the sunny reading room. Based on what she knows of her client the sparkly eyed tarot reader chooses three decks. Chantal knew immediately which deck she wanted to use.

The client asks the questions and the cards are drawn in answer. These are interpreted by the tarot reader and a narrative emerges.

“There is never anything dreadfully negative, only messages to take heed of,” she said, laying out the card representing a potential obstacle.

The cards themselves were enough to keep Chantal engaged and fascinated. Beautifully designed and detailed, each card was a story in and of itself.

The reading was balanced and positive. There were issues to take cognisance of, and elements to celebrate and cheer.

What an uplifting and thought provoking way to spend an hour, thought Chantal as she drove home.

Essence and wisdom

Chantal was more than just alive on her return from the reading so Matthew made his booking too. On the day he had more than one appointment moved or cancelled. But not his reading. That must have been important enough for him to attend.

Matthew is a deep soul so his reading took a longer, winding route across the table. Where Chantal’s card layout was orderly and square, Matthew’s cards spread themselves across the table, curving down and out into several spider legs below.

Stories whispered and giggled from the cards. Warnings arrived like somber traffic wardens along the road but at the turn of a card a ray of light and colour promised potential and plenty.

The playfulness of childhood and the wishing stones of fairytales washed across our skies on those days. We left with the recordings to remind us and photographs of the card spreads to look back at. Like a favourite book tucked under our arms we carry the stories with us even while we may not remember them word for word.

Essence and wisdom was the prevailing message we received from our visits. We chose to embrace the heartfelt messages that were clothed in care and compassion. We could have dismissed them and the experience but what would that have done for our day?

It’s far more fun to be immersed in a day consciously created to be amazing. There may be fairies and wishing trees, wizards and crones that hang around the periphery of our awareness or there may just be choice. Choice to see what we want to see, believe what we want to believe and love it all completely.

Until next time.

Yours in conscious creation,
Chantal & Matthew

After 30 years building websites, we’ve learned the hard part isn’t building one. It’s keeping it working, safe and findable afterwards

Tech Warrior helps South African small businesses keep their websites working, protected and findable. We’ve built and looked after websites for 30 years. These days the bigger job is what happens after a site goes live: WordPress updates, security, backups and uptime, so your site doesn’t quietly break or get hacked. We also set up and manage your Google Business Profile and local search, the part AI hasn’t taken over, so customers can still find you. And we keep you informed as Google and AI change how people search. We still build small business websites and do graphic design, logos and flyers too. Ask us for a free website health check

Reducing the Certainty Deficit in high-performing people and teams · Emotional fitness coach

Matthew works with athletes, performance teams, and anyone who wants to reduce the Certainty Deficit in their situation or context.

The Certainty Deficit is the space between what you can do and what your body will let you do when it counts. It is context-specific and situational. A person or athlete can have zero deficit in one situation and a significant one in another.

The body holds beliefs that keep the Certainty Deficit in place. These beliefs run deeper than self-talk and faster than any conscious strategy. When they shift, the ceiling shifts, and new possibilities arise.

Matthew is also an emotional fitness coach who supports individuals to live and lead from a place of inner clarity and stability. The work is somatic-first, practical, and grounded.

If you're seeing a pattern that current approaches haven't shifted, let's talk.
